Arts and Entertainment from EzineArticles.com

I believe that nothing holds more quintessential charm than early 19th century, English, blue transfer ware, otherwise known as "blue and white". Charm is a word we hear very little of these days, although it's something we naturally look for. We may not often hear the word, but there's a part of us that seeks it out.

Arts and Entertainment:Music from EzineArticles.com

If I asked you how long do you think that the Electric Violin has been around, you would more than likely scratch you head, and hazard a guess at from the 1960's. Your reasoning, (which is wrong by the way) is probably because lots of innovations took place in this period, and you would assume that this was one of them.

Music Review: Slumdog Millionaire

Of the many hits charted by Paul Revere & the Raiders, the biggest was 1971's "Indian Reservation." By contrast, the Nashville Teens was a one-hit wonder band that only broke the Top 20 in 1964 with the hard-edged "Tobacco Road." The genius behind both these hits is John D. Loudermilk, a prolific singer-songwriter of the 1960s and 70s. Loudermilk was raised in Durham, South Carolina, which informed his songs about Southern poverty and the infamous "Trail of Tears": the forced removal of the Cherokee Nation from the South to reservations in what is now Oklahoma.

So … today is a very short work day for me because … I have a secret. For pretty much the bulk of today I will be otherwise occupied on a very top secret, hush hush project that I would LOVE to be able to tell you all about … but can’t just yet. As a result, I am unable to give any real deets about what I’ll be doing today … altho, I do have one tiny, itsy bitsy bit of info that I can share with only YOU. BUT, you have to promise not to tell ANYONE … OK?

I can tell you that what I am doing today is SO COOL that it may very well be the coolest thing that I have ever done in my life … well, so far. It may be some time before I’m able to talk about the “cool thing” I’m doing today but I promise, when I’m able to spill I will GUSH ALL OVER. So … please bear with my absence for today. I’ll be back on schedule, back to normal tomorrow … so Have a Great WEDNESDAY and I’ll see you then!

Three Minor Details For Successful Songs

Believe it or not, grunge music had been available long before the end of the twentieth century. Most folks deem groups like Nirvana and Pearl Jam, clad in flannel and screaming about the wrongs of capitalism, to be grunge. Always shying away from the limelight and the corporate sponsors, grunge seemed to be the perfect cure for the former hair band years.

Eight Things You Must Know Before Having Your Video Translated

I'm sure there are the 'set in their ways' types out there that want their paperbacks and hardcopy horror books and that all...speak no more about it! That the build up of dread, anxiety and frights aren't the same without tapping their finger to their tongue and turning a page. To these people I say, give ebook formats a chance.

We wonder if any of Denzel Washington's old professors would have guessed how much money he'd be putting back into their work.

The Oscar-winning actor recently donated $2.25 million to the theatre department at Fordham University.

$25,000 of the gift will go to a worthy undergraduate theatre student in the form of scholarship. The rest will be used to create the Denzel Washington Chair in Theatre.

Television and Broadway actress Phylicia Rashad has already filled the chair position! One of her duties includes teaching the class "Creating a Character."

When he gave the gift, Denzel stated:

I wanted to create the Denzel Washington Endowed Scholarship and Chair in Theatre at Fordham in order to offer the next generation of students positive influences. Phylicia Rashad, as the inaugural holder of the chair, will provide the care, compassion and that extra push to help take students where they’re meant to go.

Damn! Niice Denzel! We wish more would do something like this!

Glee Recap: Asian F Gets An A

Glee is back, baby, and in tonight’s episode we learned a bit more about some of those not so central characters – Mike Chang, Mercedes Jones and Emma Pillsbury. We begin the episode with Will finding Emma’s secret stash of wedding magazines, and while he’s okay with finding it, he’s not okay with the fact that he hasn’t even met her parents yet. Mike and his father, Mike Chang, Sr. are in Principal Figgin’s office, with the elder Mike concerned about his son because he got an A- on his chemistry test. OMG, an Asian F! His father thinks he should take a drug test and feels Glee Club and Tina are distractions to his academic future. Mercedes’ boyfriend Shane gives her the confidence she needs by telling her that she’s better than Rachel, and she auditions for the role of Maria, singing Jennifer Hudson’s ‘Spotlight’. We all know what amazing vocals she has and of course wowed the judges. Rachel looks on, and feels threatened by Mercedes’ audition. Artie, Emma and Coach Beiste can’t decide so they have both return for another audition, wanting them to sing ‘Out Here On My Own’. With Brittany running against Kurt for class [...]

How To Hold A Music Festival

The story of Rock & Roll is being told in print and movies from the point of view of people who are anomalies, not the common story. With the exception of The Beatles who were always Rock fans first and foremost, most of the other stories are about people who only became rockers because the Beatles made it profitable.

Sad! Occupy Oakland Protestor Gets Shot In The Face! Video Goes Viral!

This is getting so out of control. We're not happy that this movement, once peaceful and SOMETHING, has now turned to bloodshed.

Even better? Michael Patrick King wrote the part specifically FOR her!

Holy shiz! We can't even BEGIN to imagine where this will go, but we are super excited to find out!

The Digital Effect: The Shift In How Users Play Music

The true history of the Country/Psychobilly performer known as Unknown Hinson is rather murky, buried in the kind of swampy southern mess that the Hinson-voiced character Early Culver seems to inhabit on the Adult Swim series Squidbillies. Interviews with the self-proclaimed "King of the Country Western Troubadours" all tend to paint a similar strange story: Unknown Hinson was named after his Daddy--it's right there on his birth certificate, "Unknown"--and after his mother disappeared around Hinson's 10th birthday, the whippersnapper ran off and joined the carnival, honing his musical skills while biting the heads off birds and handling snakes.

So You Think You Can Write A Hit Song?

They came and before you knew it they were gone? I have always wondered how they managed to create that single 15 minutes of fame and yet not be able to sustain it thereafter. One Hit Wonders are a listing of those songs which were probably the only hit from these artists. They may have been able to follow it up with another song or two, however none of these follow-ups could meet the hit-factor of their original hit. This would be probably be the only big song you would know of the artist and in most cases these artists have disappeared to oblivion now. One would always wonder where are they today.

Best Songs on Acoustic Guitar Part 9

"Bad to the Bone," the 1982 blues-rock anthem by George Thorogood & the Destroyers, used the structure and signature guitar riff from Bo Diddley's "I'm a Man." Though it never charted, the song has been widely used in movies such as "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" when the meanest, toughest character is introduced. The song became the entrance theme for baseball players and wrestlers and has been used in TV commercials to sell everything from Buicks to Wrangler jeans.

Crystal Harris To Auction Off Engagement Ring From Hugh Hefner

Runaway bride Crystal Harris dumped her fiancé Hugh Hefner days before their wedding and now she is looking to dump the engagement ring he gave her too. In true gold digger style she is set to have the bling auctioned off, one classy lady that Harris. Crystal Harris has listed her engagement ring with Christie’s auction house, according to US Weekly anyway. There is a listing with the auction house that says the 3.39 carat circular-cut diamond should sell for anywhere between $20,000 and $30,000. Not sure if you are aware or not but the bling that Hef bought his former girlfriend reportedly cost him a whopping $90,000. I tell you what it is quite the impressive ring and hey it sounds like some lucky buyer could get a real deal on a barely used diamond ring. If you are like me you are probably wondering why Crystal has decided to auction of the ring. Well apparently she just couldn’t stand to look at it anymore because it reminded her of so many bad memories. I totally get not wanting a reminder of your ex around but then why doesn’t she just give the ring back to Hugh? Oh wait [...]

The best Batman ever is in desperate need of money? Say it ain't so!

We began our marathon of musicals on Friday night by attending Rock Of Ages, a show that is going to be on Broadway for a long time!

It is the definition of a FEEL-GOOD show! Even the most jaded of theatergoers can't help but walk away from it with a smile on their face!

And, there's the big all-star cast film version coming out next year! So the whole world will be Rockin!

We first saw Rock Of Ages about 4 years ago in Los Angeles, in a production that starred our friends Laura Bell Bundy and Willam Belli, as well as the adorable Tom Lenk and awesome Dan Finnerty.

The show has come a long way since then! But the heart and soul - and rock! - of it remain the same.

And the current Broadway cast is fab!

Can't wait to see even more shows over the next week in New York!

Bring it!!!!
